Roberto Martinez insists he is not worried about a lack of clean sheets as Everton’s new attacking style evolves.
The Blues did not record a shut-out in any of their seven pre-season games, and were held 2-2 by Norwich City in their Premier League opener last weekend.
But the Catalan insisted that creating chances, and hopefully scoring enough goals to seal three points will be the priority this term.
He said: “Ideally you want to keep clean sheets but what we want is to win football games.
“Look at the amount of chances Norwich had, I don’t think they should’ve got two goals.
“It is not about keeping clean sheets, it is about winning games and on Saturday, playing away from home, we were on the front foot, created more chances than the home team and deserved to win.
“That is what I want to find in every performance.”
Martinez knows he must be patient while his squad fully absorbs his methods, and is not concerned how long it will take for them to be fully realised provided his players continue in the same vein as last weekend.
“I am not concerned about how long it is going to take us to be in a certain style,” he said.
“What is important is that we perform well and we are competitive and that we can install a very competitive edge in our performances. That’s all I am concerned about.”
