Martinez: I’m running out of adjectives to describe Barry
Everton manager Roberto Martinez was delighted with the two goalscorers in yesterdays home win over Norwich City and says that he is running out of adjectives to describe Gareth Barry.
Gareth Barry and Kevin Mirallas both scored fantastic goals to keep Everton in with a hope of a top 4 finish. Barry’s was a sweet left footed drive that swerved out of reach of the keeper and Mirallas hit a beautiful curling free-kick into the top left hand corner of the net which keeps Everton in the mix for a top 4 place.
Martinez said: “I think Kevin’s free-kick had a very similar profile to the one he had at Stoke [on New Year’s Day] but unfortunately that one hit the post.
“Today, the technique was exactly the same, and I was pleased for him because he deserved, with his overall performance, to get that ball in the back of the net.
“With Gareth Barry, you will always run out of adjectives you can give him. The way he has been performing with us has been phenomenal.
“For him to get the opening goal, and an important one, of such quality, was very pleasing. It, too, was a reward for his overall performance. He was once more a class act.”
