Martinez: Lukaku will go on to the next level in the second half of the season
Roberto Martinez is delighted with the contribution of Romelu Lukaku and thinks the big striker will move on to the next level in the second half the season. Despite not scoring as many goals recently Martinez believes that Lukaku creates more room for other players in his team and is an important player in terms of assists.
He also believes that playing 90 minutes regularily for the first time in his career will be massive for his development.
“I am delighted with the manner in which he takes information in, the way he leads the line, the way he works for the team,” said Martinez.
“Obviously at the moment you’ve got the other teams paying a lot of attention to him, so that frees other players.
“The goal against West Brom came from a real assist from himself attracting two players and then Kevin Mirallas’s movement giving him a one-v-one situation.
“I am very pleased and I think Rom will now go onto the next level in the second half of the season because he is starting to work out how he can affect a game when you have two or three players around you – and that’s the next level.”
“As I said before, this season is really, really important for Rom because he’s becoming a football man,” added Martinez.
“Up to this point he hasn’t, since he came out of Anderlecht at the age of 16, had any big seasons under his belt in terms of playing 90 minutes – taking the important role in the team as a number nine.
“He is doing that now.
“He did really well in his experience in another loan spell, but that was more from being effective on the pitch, it wasn’t in completing 90 minutes.”

I can’t see Chelski loaning him again, they’ll use him or sell him next summer. If he has a good World Cup I think they will let Torres and Ba go and have him and Etoo as their strike force. If he doesn’t feature much I could see him moving to Spain or Italy,it certainly fits in with his plans to be regarded as a great striker.
