Martinez shrugs off Everton fans protest
Beleaguered Everton manager Roberto Martinez has shrugged off a protest by a section of Everton fans and says that all he is concentrating on is what happens on the pitch.
A number of Everton supporters held a sit in at Goodison Park for over an hour after the game in protest at the Spanish manager and a plane with banner in support of sacking the manager also flew over the stadium during the match, but Martinez was unconcerned.
“In football you have to concentrate on affecting the game and just winning,” Martinez said.
“The winning feeling allows you to move on. That’s what we can take from today.
“Those aspects [the protests] are not for me. My concentration is preparing the players and preparing for the game.
“The win was very important – it has been an emotional time. We had to win. We had to dig deep, we showed we were a team and that we have character.”
Will Roberto Martinez be in charge of Everton next season?
