After the inclusion of Tyias Browning and Luke Garbutt on the Everton bench in recent weeks, Toffees boss Roberto Martinez was asked on their possible inclusion on the pitch in the near future.
“They’re both ready” he proclaimed. “Both players have gone through the correct developmental stages and are now ready to help the team.”
“Luke [Garbutt] did well for the youth sides and then went on to have a very positive experience with Colchester on loan where he became a key figure. He has now returned and is in the first team squad. He will have a chance soon to make his impression in the first team, but he is ready if we need him now”.
“Tyias [Browning] too” he added. “Tyias also had a positive loan spell at Wigan. It wasn’t so much in playing, but getting away from Finch Farm and learning to adapt to different players and coaches. He has returned to the club with a different mindset and he is ready as much as anyone to help the team”.
Martinez went on further to explain how other youth can make their way through the developmental system and be involved in the team over the coming years.
“We have sent other players out on loan for the final run of games in the season. They will get their chance to show us what they can do and they can be judged on their development playing competitive football.”
“If they do well, they can make it up to the first team squad and with the possibility of more games than ever next season, they could be involved at some stage.”
Finally, Martinez talked about the generation below the current set of youngsters out on loan.
“We have a great generation of talented players that I believe can make it at this club. We will always give them a chance. They will go through the same development system and come through the ranks”.
