McAleny: As a striker it’s massive to get a goal, it’s given me confidence
Everton forward Conor McAleny was delighted with his pre-season run out away to Swindon Town after scoring once and setting up three goals in a devastating 45 minutes.
The 22 year old was only expecting to help towards his fitness, but instead put in a man of the match performance and showed a glimpse of what he is capable of.
he said: “I wasn’t expecting that myself! At this stage, it’s all about just getting that sharpness and fitness, but I will take that any day!
“It was a good set up by Rom (Lukaku) for my goal, and vice versa. I was pleased I could set up his goal too.
“It’s massive as a striker to get a goal. It’s given me a little bit of confidence now to take into the next game and into the rest of pre-season. That’s all I can do.
“(The victory at Swindon) will give the lads a good bit of confidence, with two hard games coming up in Singapore. We just have to take the confidence out of this win into those games.”
Will McAleny get first team action this season?
