Mirallas: It was my best Everton goal but the 3 points were more important
Everton winger Kevin Mirallas was delighted with his free-kick against Norwich City and said it was possibly his best ever, but said that the three points were far more important. As the blues head off for some warm weather training Mirallas also conceded that injuries and suspensions meant that Everton started to tire in the second half of the game.
“Maybe it’s my best goal, after the goal against Stoke City last season,” Mirallas told evertontv. “But most important today was the three points.
“Leighton said it was for me because it was in my position. I said I would score – it was a good free-kick and good for me. Against Stoke City I hit the crossbar but today I concentrated and scored a goal.
“The team played very well. We controlled the game, scoring one goal in the first half and one goal in the second half. We were a little bit tired in the second half but we won the game which is most important.”
Before the match Everton paraded new signing Aiden McGeady, who signed in for a nominal fee from Russian club Spartak Moscow and the Belgian believes his new team mate will provide good competition for places.
He continued: “It’s good for the team because he is a good player. He has quality and now there is good competition between Gerard Deulofeu, Steven Pienaar, Steven Naismith and me.
“I’m happy for the competition because it is good for the team. We have a strong team and maybe we can qualify for the Champions League.”
