Onyekuru wants early Everton return
On-loan Everton forward Henry Onyekuru has tonight admitted that he’d like to return to Everton in January.
The Nigerian striker, loaned to Anderlecht for the season due to a work permit complication upon signing for the blues, is in a fine run of form having scored 6 goals in his last 6 starts (including 2 tonight).
Speaking after a man of the match performance earlier this evening, Onyekuru was asked about his mid-week visit to Liverpool…
You are on loan at Anderlecht but you belong to Everton. We have seen you there over the past week. You had a meeting there?
(Long silence) “Did you see that?”
Yes, on your Instagram account.
“Yes, that’s right and I’m waiting for something. That’s all I can say. “
Rumor has it that you could return to Everton in January. That is true ?
“I hope to be able to play there in January. Everton is happy with my start to the season. But we are not in January and all my concentration is in Anderlecht.”
It seems Everton are looking to cease Onyekuru’s season-long loan prematurely, however the key will be whether the player is granted a UK work permit as an outstanding talent on the strength of his performances with Anderlecht.
With Everton struggling to hit the net with regularity this season, the early return of an in-form Onyekuru would surely be a welcome boost for the toffees.
