Oviedo: I feel very good and will only improve with more games
Everton left-back Bryan Oviedo hopes he can put a nightmare year behind him and start to push on with his fitness as he followed up 120 minutes at Barnsley with 90 minutes at White Hart Lane.
The Costa Rican defender has suffered a number of serious injuries in the last year but feels he can now put a run of games together and start to improve his football at the same time.
“I feel very good,” he told evertontv after the goalless draw at White Hart Lane. “After six months of not playing it was very difficult for me to play 120 minutes against Barnsley in the last game.
“But now I feel better. In the second half today, I felt much better and that will only improve with the more games I play.
“There is good confidence in the dressing room at the moment – but we want to progress in every game. We now have a very good game against Chelsea at home to look forward to and we want to be better for that game.”
“We came to win the game,” he added. “We wanted to come away with three points but I think in the end it is a good result for us.
“Tottenham were at home so, obviously, they were trying to press us more and score – but I think, most importantly for us, we defended really well and didn’t concede a goal.
“It was very good for us to get a clean sheet. To not concede goals is one of the most important things, then, we need to take our chances at the other end as well.”
