    Papers saying Everton takeover close

    Rumours are rife today about the potential takeover of Everton Football Club following weeks of speculation on various news and social media outlets including the BBC.

    Today the Daily Star has run an article which claims the club is close to a takeover from an American consortium which adds fuel to the fire.

    Recently the club paid off 4 outstanding mortgages and loans which led to talks amongst supporters of due diligence.

    Now the paper is claiming that several US consortiums are interested in the club which would cost around £225m according to reports.

    Could the club finally be sold?
