Rodwell was close to signing for Everton on Deadline Day
Former Everton star Jack Rodwell was close to resigning for the club on loan on transfer deadline day. Everton boss Roberto Martinez was prepared to offer current loanee Gareth Barry a full time contract to free up a loan spot to bring in Rodwell according to Dominic King in the Daily Mail
The deal broke down because Manchester City couldn’t agree a deal for Fernando who plays for Portuguese club Porto.
Rodwell has suffered a stuttering career since leaving Everton after having his time at City blighted by injury. Hehas barely played under new boss Manuel Pellegrini and it was thought that it would be in everyones best interest if he re-joined Everton.
Rodwell has played 14 times for City in 18 months and has scored 2 goals.
