Sheedy: Martinez full of praise for Everton young players
Roberto Martinez was full of praise for the Everton Under 18’s following their FA Youth Cup victory over Brighton according to U18’s manager Kevin Sheedy. Martinez watched from the Goodison Park stands as two George Green goals saw the youngsters to victory and Sheedy said that the manager was impressed with what he saw.
“The manager came in after the game and he was very complimentary towards the players and the style of football which we played, which is nice because that’s the way he wants us to play,” Sheedy told evertontv.
“It’s the way we’ve been playing football all season – we pass the ball out from the back.
“It was a nice touch.
“I thought the performance was very good, particularly in the second half. They’re a decent team, we’ve had them watched and they’ve got some good, talented players who pass the ball well.
“It was an even game in the first half and we didn’t pass it as quickly as we wanted to, but certainly in the second half we upped our game and we totally passed them off the pitch, we scored two goals, looked like scoring more and we’re really pleased overall with the performance.”
Sheedy also commented on the lift that having the Everton manager in the dressing room gave to his players and is expecting them to maintain their levels of performance.
