John Stones believes England’s spirit can help them to victory over Moldova on Thursday night.
The Everton defender was part of the squad who started the season with a 6-0 win over Scotland last month and the group are now back together for the start of Euro Qualification.
And with Gareth Southgate taking over as Head Coach too, Stones admits it’s been a good few days at St. George’s Park.
He told TheFA.com: “It’s gone really well so far, I’ve been really enjoying it and it’s good to get back with England.
“Hopefully we’ll be prepared for the game against Thursday, the squad’s quite similar to last time, with a few additions and we all know each other well so there hasn’t been too many changes.
“The gaffer’s put his own stamp on what he wants from us in training so there’s a few changes here and there and there’s a good vibe about.”
Thursday’s game at the Madejski Stadium is the first of a double-header, with the squad then heading to Finland for Monday’s game in Tampere.
And Stones is determined to help the Three Lions make the best start possible to the new campaign with victory over Moldova.
“We want to take a win over to Finland and move on from there,” he added.
“It could be massive taking that into the game on Monday, as you always want to win at home for the fans.
“But we’ve got to be patient and keep the ball, break them down.
“They may be really defensive so we will have to find ways in the final third of breaking them down.”
