Ahead of the FA Cup game at Stevenage, we spoke to Boro fan Catherine Gill (@catgill) about what we can expect on Saturday.
Last time we faced you, you held us in the 90 minutes before a late Fellaini goal in extra time defeated you. Do you have hopes you can better what was already a good performance?
I definitely have high hopes for us. There has been a great build up to this match and I think the players will be keen to show everyone what they can do. All we can do is go out there and believe we can win and then anything is possible.
Can we expect the full strength team again?
I would expect so. It hasn’t been the best of starts for us in the league (currently bottom of league 1) so everyone at the club has a point to prove.
Will Broadhall Way have a ramped up atmosphere for this one – an evening game against Premier League opposition in front of the cameras – ?
The atmosphere will certainly be buzzing on Saturday. As a football fan of any club, the big matches are what you look forward to most, so I expect this to be no different. Playing at home will certainly benefit us, and hopefully the crowd noise will be as loud as ever and play that key role in being the ‘eleventh man’.
Are there any decent boozers for opposing fans around the stadium?
There isn’t much in terms of places to get your pre-match drink. We do have an on-site bar for fans, but the majority of pubs and bars are either located in Stevenage Town Centre or in Stevenage Old Town. The Wetherspoons in Stevenage Town Centre is probably the closest and most reasonably priced. Food outlets are a lot closer, with burger vans etc at the ground as well as the Roaring Meg which is just a minutes walk from the ground playing host to Burger King and Pizza Hut.
Who are your main threats and why?
I would say Zoko and Freeman are our main threats. Zoko has a presence in front of goal, and certainly knows how to hit the ball. Freeman is very creative and can make something happen out of nothing.
Predictions?
I have to be positive, and of course very bias, so I am going to go for a cheeky 1-0 win to Boro!
