Aspostolos Vellios has confirmed on twitter that he has signed for Blackpool until the end of the season.
The Greek U21 international has had a topsy turvy relationship with the Evertonians during his career in Merseyside. At first he was an unfortunate figure, who provided quality when given the few chances. He was seen as a player that was cast aside under Moyes’ regime. Reports followed that he had refused to go out on loan during Moyes’ time and Vellios was then marmite to the Blues faithful. Now Martinez has confirmed reports that the striker did indeed reject several loan moves and has fully fallen out of favour at Goodison park.
This is a great chance to show what he can do in regular competitive football. The Tangerines lie uncomfortably just above the relegation zone and will be hoping that Vellios can make an instant impact, with their range of alternative strikers currently misfiring. If he proves what he can do, he may still have a future at Everton Football Club.
