West Ham to bid for Everton striker Nikica Jelavic
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce is to follow up longstanding interest in Everton front man Nikica Jelavic in the January transfer window with a bid as the West Ham owners look to stand by their manager according to the Mirror.
Just days after missing out on defender Johnny Heitinga, West Ham are looking to test Everton gaffer Roberto Martinez resolve with a bid for the player. West Ham have long been interested in the striker but no bid materialised, but with Andy Carroll out with a long term injury and being blessed with a strike force as dangerous as the French army, big Sam has chosen to strike.
Jelavic was a fans favourite at Goodison park after signing from Rangers and scoring 10 goals in half a season, but since then his form has dropped amid rumours of dissatisfaction of his wage and agent intervention. It is thought that Jelavic has long been unhappy on Merseyside and the player wants a starting berth with a World Cup at place.
